(02.02.2022) Swiss business leaders are confident about the coming year. Sixty-four percent of the 100 CEOs questioned in the "Annual Global Survey" published by the consulting firm PwC expect their sales to increase in the next 12 months.

Despite the persistence of the COVID-19 epidemic, the majority of business leaders are optimistic about the future. In Switzerland, 81% of those surveyed by PwC expect the global economy to grow in 2022. These expectations for global GDP growth are four percentage points higher than the international average.

Overall, the national trend is forecast to be positive. Nearly two-thirds of those surveyed expect their company to post higher revenues this year, and 74% anticipate growth over the next three years.

Germany is perceived as the Swiss economy's most important market for international trade by 52% of those surveyed. This figure stood at just 39% at the end of 2020. Half of those surveyed also see the USA as a key partner, compared with 45% the previous year. China, on the other hand, is declining in importance. Only 27% of the leaders mentioned China, compared to 39% last year.

Cybercrime is cited as one of the major risks for businesses. It is listed as a major concern by all respondents. Global warming issues also top the list, as do trade conflicts, health crises and geopolitical uncertainties.
