SME Forum

Group of male and female employees discussing something

The purpose of the commission of experts known as the SME Forum is to draw the federal administration's attention to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Founded by the Federal Council in December 1998, the SME Forum is tasked with:

  • participating in consultations on federal laws or ordinances, and taking positions representing the interests of SMEs. It monitors the implementation of measures planned, especially the administrative burden, the costs involved and the limitations imposed on entrepreneurial independence.
  • discussing specific areas of existing legislation and suggesting simplifications or alternatives.

The SME Forum provides a place where its members (most of whom are entrepreneurs) and the federal offices can exchange ideas, thus allowing both sides to examine SMEs’ needs and demands.
