The Swiss economic position is regularly ranked among the best in the world in many fields, such as innovation, for example.
Switzerland is among the best economic areas in the world. Its geographic position at the heart of Europe, its quality of life, multilingualism, liberal laws, qualified workforce, and its higher education schools (hautes écoles) and first-rate research institutions make it a preferred place to establish and develop a company.
Switzerland thus ranks first in global competitiveness rankings set out in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Competitiveness Report 2019. Furthermore, it ranks 3rd in the 2020 rankings of the World Competitiveness Yearbook published by the IMD, behind Singapore and Denmark. The European Commission also places the country at the top of the European innovation scoreboard 2021 (europa.eu).
