Certification authorities for digital certificates

Some bodies in Switzerland are responsible for issuing digital codes enabling certification of software. Here is an explanation.

In the information technology sector, a certification authority is a body authorized to issue digital certificates.

A digital certificate is to software what an identity card is to a person. It is used to allocate a specific official code to a person or an organization (a digital signature). This allocation is certified by the certification authority.
