  • Bureaucracy Monitor: Reducing administrative burdens through digitalisation (01.03.2023, German, French and Italian)
    SECO’s latest Bureaucracy Monitor, published on 1 March 2023, has revealed that 60 per cent of the more than 1,500 companies surveyed perceive the administrative burden as fairly high or high. Although the perceived burden remains at a high level, it has fallen slightly compared with the last survey in 2018. Digitalisation is making a significant contribution to reducing the administrative burden on companies in Switzerland.

    The Federal Council aims to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses. At the same time, it intends to promote and further expand the digitalisation of public services. On 9 December 2022, it adopted the dispatch on a Regulatory Relief Act. The Federal Council also adopted a dispatch on the introduction of a regulatory brake, even though it opposes the measure. In doing so, it is fulfilling a mandate from Parliament.
  • Implementation of measures to reduce the administrative burden is well under way (29.09.2017, German, French and Italian)
    Since 2011, the Federal Council has adopted a total of 91 measures and review mandates aimed at reducing the administrative burden in three reports. An interim review paints a positive picture: 80 per cent of the measures have been implemented or are being implemented according to plan. Nevertheless, reducing bureaucratic tasks to ease the burden on businesses remains a key priority for the Federal Council.

    The Federal Council aims to reduce the administrative burden on businesses. The focus is on reducing unnecessary administrative burdens without compromising the objectives of effective regulation. To this end, it adopted 31 measures on 2 September 2015. At the same time, it took stock of the measures implemented to date. 75 per cent of the measures adopted in 2011 have been implemented or are being implemented according to plan.
